STYLE SPOTLIGHT ARTIST
Style Spotlight Artist of the Year- where your style takes center stage.
Style Spotlight Artist at WCE Studio Nationals celebrates dancers who excel in a specific genre — combining the strength of a prepared solo with the ability to deliver in a live, on-stage showdown.
To participate, dancers must register for Style Spotlight Artist (additional fee applies).
Dancers must register different solos if they choose to participate in both the Dancer of the Year and the Style Spotlight Artist competitions.
HOW IT WORKS
Style Spotlight Artist runs in three steps:
Step 1: Solo Competition (Placements happen here)

- Dancers compete their solo within the regular Solo Competition.
- Solo placements are awarded from the Solo Competition and are not divided by genre.
- For Style Spotlight Artist purposes, each dancer’s genre solo score is pulled from the Solo Competition.
Step 2: Genre Audition Class (Learn the combo)

- Dancers attend a genre-specific audition class in the style they are registered for.
- Mini/Junior dancers learn and audition together.
- Teen/Senior dancers learn and audition together.
- Each genre audition class is approximately 30 minutes.
Step 3: Finalist Selection (Top 10 / Top 50%)
Finalists are determined using a balanced scoring system:

- 50% Genre Solo Score (from Solo Competition)
- 50% Audition Combo Score (from the genre audition class)

There will be one set of winners per genre for:

FINALISTS
Finalists are selected within each genre and age grouping based on the combined score (50% solo / 50% audition):
- Genres with 20+ entries: Top 10 Finalists
- Genres with 19 or fewer entries: Top 50% recognized as finalists
All finalists will be featured as Style Spotlight Artist Finalists (poster recognition).
STYLE SPOTLIGHT ARTIST SHOWDOWN (SAAS)
The Style Spotlight Artist Showdown (SAAS) is the live, on-stage finale.
- Finalists will perform the audition combo on stage for the judges.
- Based on the SAAS performance, we will select and announce:
- 1st Place
- 2nd Place
- 3rd Place
Winners are announced on stage at the SAAS.

GENRE AWARDS
Style Spotlight Artist awards are designed to provide real-world opportunities that elevate dancers within their genre.
Jazz (Confirmed)
Jazz Style Spotlight Artist winners will receive:
- Access to attend a Los Angeles Jazz Company rehearsal
- Tickets + backstage access to assist and observe at a Los Angeles Jazz Company concert
- Teen / Senior ONLY: Scholarship to attend the Los Angeles Jazz Company Summer Intensive
Hip Hop (Confirmed)
Hip Hop Style Spotlight Artist winners will receive:

Awards for the following genres are currently being finalized and will be announced prior to Studio Nationals:
- Ballet

- Contemporary
Each genre award package will include industry-relevant opportunities designed to support growth and provide meaningful genre exposure.

- Dancers must register for Style Spotlight Artist to be considered
- Additional fee applies
- Dancers may register for one genre only and it must match the style of their solo competition
